THE SOJOURN
This mixed-use hotel and lounge reflects the spirit of Bend, Oregon. In this project, we work with what’s already here: the landscape, the project team, and Bend itself.
The Sojourn’s unique shape was chosen to preserve the site’s ponderosa pine trees and keep its energy usage low. The walls are oriented to enhance passive heating and cooling of the building.
Working together early on, the design and build teams shorten the construction timeline. With the build team’s input, the design team incorporates elements that reduce the cost and enhance the efficiency of construction.
As a destination, Central Oregon is known for its natural beauty and outdoor adventures. The Sojourn offers a place for visitors to rest and recharge, with a lounge in the lobby and a top-floor patio that features a spa and views of the surrounding landscape.
The building’s mass timber construction supports local industry and reflects the city’s history as a timber hub. Mass timber is a more sustainable material than the traditional steel and concrete, which helps us keep the outdoors healthy.
